Mr. Jones is a California native born in the Mission District of San Francisco. He was raised in the Bay
Area and spent his last two years of high school in Toronto, Canada. After high school, Mr. Jones served
in the US Marine in Vietnam as an infantryman with the Third Marine Division.
After his military service, Mr. Jones obtained his B.A. in English, magna cum laude, from the University of
California, Santa Barbara. He then attended and completed a graduate program in education and obtained
a Secondary School Teaching Credential. He briefly taught high school in Santa Barbara before joining
the Peace Corps and serving as a teacher trainer in Micronesia.
Upon his return to the United States in the late 1970’s, Mr. Jones again taught high school and then was
accepted to Law School at Hastings College of the Law. While in law school he served as an intern/clerk
for San Mateo County Legal Aid and for the State Supreme Court, Central Staff.
Mr. Jones went directly into civil practice, primarily insurance defense. He became a partner at McGlynn,
McLorg, and Ritchie in 1990. In 1999 he became a partner at Hinshaw, Draa, Marsh and Still. In 2007 he
joined the partnership of Hassard, Bonnington LLP, and in 2009 became a partner with The Goldman
Law Firm.
Mr. Jones has 27 years of litigation experience including approximately 35 to 40 civil trials.
Mr. Jones has served as an instructor for the National Institute of Trial Advocacy (NITA), training other
lawyers in trial and litigation skills at schools such as Boalt Hall, USF and Stanford. Mr. Jones completed
the NITA teaching course at Harvard campus in spring 2007.
Mr. Jones currently defends health care providers sued for professional negligence.
